Four Detroit News contributors picked 15 Metro Detroit high school games. Five matchups drew unanimous calls, while several others divided the panel.

Four teams entered Week 8 unbeaten at 7-0: Cass Tech, Saline, Clarkston and Romeo. The Associated Press ranked Cass Tech No. 2 in Division 1 and Saline No. 4. Clarkston was No. 6, with Romeo at No. 8. Detroit King and Harper Woods were each 6-1. King ranked No. 1 in Division 3, while Harper Woods sat at No. 5, according to the AP's Week 8 rankings.

The Detroit News panel agreed on five of its 15 picks. All four contributors chose Detroit Cass Tech over Detroit King and Clarkston over Harper Woods. They also picked Ecorse over Detroit Edison, Woodhaven over Trenton and Dearborn Heights Robichaud over Melvindale.

Brandon Folsom and Craig Yuhas made picks alongside Andrew Graham. Kameron Goodwill completed the panel. Graham named Jackson Lumen Christi his best bet against Detroit Country Day; Romeo received two best-bet designations.

Romeo was a unanimous pick against Roseville, with Yuhas and Goodwill also marking it as a best bet. Saline was the panel's unanimous choice over Temperance Bedford, and Folsom named Saline a best bet.

Three contributors picked Jackson Lumen Christi over Detroit Country Day; Yuhas backed Country Day. North Farmington drew three picks over Farmington, with Graham choosing Farmington. Three panelists also picked Plymouth over Belleville, while Folsom went with Belleville.

Several games split the panel evenly. Folsom and Yuhas picked Detroit Denby over Detroit Central; Graham and Goodwill took Central. Monroe Jefferson vs. Monroe St. Mary CC also drew two votes per side: Folsom and Graham picked Jefferson, while Yuhas and Goodwill chose St. Mary CC.

Livonia Churchill vs. Livonia Stevenson was another even split. Folsom and Graham picked Churchill, while Yuhas and Goodwill chose Stevenson. Three panelists backed St. Clair Shores Lakeview over Utica Eisenhower; Graham picked Eisenhower.

ClickOnDetroit's Week 8 poll also had Cass Tech at No. 2 and Saline at No. 3 among the state's top 20 teams. Clarkston ranked No. 7, while Detroit King was No. 8. Romeo came in at No. 9 and Harper Woods at No. 13. The poll said 13 undefeated teams remained.

The picks follow a Week 7 slate with close finishes and shutouts, covered in this Week 7 recap. On Oct. 9, Detroit Catholic Central beat Orchard Lake St. Mary's 27-20, scoring the winning touchdown in the final seconds. Catholic Central and Cass Tech both entered Week 8 at 7-0. The AP ranked Catholic Central No. 1 in Division 1 and Cass Tech No. 2. These are predictions, not game results.

Graham led last week's panel records at 13-2. Goodwill finished 12-3, Yuhas 10-5 and Folsom 8-7.

Yuhas led the overall standings at 62-13. Goodwill was 59-16, while Folsom and Graham each finished 58-17. Every panelist went 5-0 on best bets.
