About Farmington Voice
Learn who publishes Farmington Voice, what we cover across Farmington, Oakland County and Michigan, and how our editorial standards and ownership work.
Farmington Voice is an independent digital news publication covering Farmington, Farmington Hills, Oakland County and Michigan, together with selected U.S. developments that have meaningful consequences for Michigan readers.
Our editorial principle is simple: “Local first. Michigan always. National when relevant.”
What We Cover
Farmington Voice reports on subjects that affect local communities, households, businesses and institutions across Michigan.
- Farmington and Farmington Hills local news;
- Oakland County government and public affairs;
- Michigan government, politics and elections;
- Education;
- Public safety;
- Business and the economy;
- Automotive and manufacturing;
- Technology and artificial intelligence;
- Infrastructure and transportation;
- Housing and development;

- Selected U.S. policy and economic developments relevant to Michigan.
National coverage is selected rather than treated as a general-purpose national news feed. We focus on U.S. developments when they materially affect Michigan residents, employers, industries, institutions or public policy.
Our Editorial Approach
Farmington Voice aims to explain not only what happened, but why it matters, what evidence supports the reporting and what readers should understand next.
Depending on the story, we use public records, government documents, legislation, official datasets, regulatory materials, company filings, research, technical documentation, direct interviews and other credible sources.
Named and attributable sources are preferred. Anonymous sources are used rarely and only when the information is important, the editorial team knows the source's identity and basis of knowledge, there is a legitimate reason for anonymity, and the information cannot reasonably be obtained on the record.
