BurgerFi plans to open its second Michigan restaurant later this fall at 2997 Washtenaw Road in Ypsilanti. The site is expected to offer dine-in service, drive-thru ordering and takeout, but the company has not confirmed an opening date.
BurgerFi announced the planned Ypsilanti opening on Oct. 1. The company did not set a specific day.
The restaurant is planned for 2997 Washtenaw Road. It would be BurgerFi's second Michigan location and its first in Washtenaw County.
Customers are expected to have several ways to order. The site is planned to offer dine-in service, a drive-thru, ordering ahead and takeout.
That date remains open.
Independent restaurant-opening listings have also placed a BurgerFi opening in the Ypsilanti market in fall 2026. Those listings did not separately confirm the address, construction status or opening day.
What the restaurant will offer
The menu centers on never-frozen 100% Angus beef burgers. Options include the CEO Burger, made with Wagyu, and the Rodeo Burger, which comes with charred jalapeños, crispy fried onions and barbecue sauce.
BurgerFi also promotes its Vegi-Fi vegetarian sandwich in classic and spicy versions. Other listed items include hand-breaded chicken tenders, fresh-cut fries and beer-battered onion rings.
Hand-spun custard shakes come in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and Oreo® flavors. Seasonal limited-time items are part of the company's menu strategy, too.
BurgerFi says its beef comes from cattle raised without steroids, antibiotics, growth hormones, chemicals or additives. The company also lists antibiotic-free chicken and buns made without artificial preservatives, colors or flavors. Eco-friendly packaging is another stated operating practice.
Those are company claims from the opening announcement. They are not independent findings about the Ypsilanti restaurant.
Second Michigan location
The Ypsilanti restaurant would be the brand's second in Michigan. BurgerFi says it operates more than 75 locations in the United States and abroad. The company is expanding through franchise development.
Public business reporting continues to identify Happy Asker as the owner associated with BurgerFi and other brands, including Savvy Sliders and Fat Boy's Pizza. BurgerFi has described Michigan as an important market.
The available material does not show whether Asker will operate the Ypsilanti restaurant directly. It also does not show whether a separate franchise entity will hold the location.
BurgerFi began in 2011. Its corporate materials list locations in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alaska, Georgia and Florida.
The company has also operated in Indiana, Puerto Rico and other markets identified in those materials.
The list is broad.
Local confirmation remains limited
The City of Ypsilanti handles local government matters tied to zoning, building and business records at the proposed address. As of Oct. 1, the retrieved indexed material did not show a direct city permit record, planning commission item or restaurant inspection update confirming a specific construction or opening milestone for the BurgerFi project.
That gap does not prove that no permit or inspection activity exists. It means only that the reviewed material did not include a confirming record.
Restaurant operations would also involve Washtenaw County health requirements and state standards administered through the Michigan food-establishment program.
Recent university-area reporting for Sept. 29 through Oct. 5 documented continuing commercial activity in Ypsilanti. It did not independently confirm BurgerFi's opening date or permit status.
The project remains planned. No specific opening day has been scheduled in the available material.
BurgerFi has not provided an exact opening date beyond later this fall. The announcement also does not specify hiring plans or restaurant hours. It does not say whether more construction, driveway work or traffic changes will affect the Washtenaw Road area.
Customers will be able to earn points and receive bonus offers through the company's V-Fi-P Loyalty Program. BurgerFi says the program also gives members early access to new menu launches. No promotions tied specifically to Ypsilanti have been announced.
Bankruptcy litigation adds uncertainty
BurgerFi remains involved in bankruptcy-related litigation. In late September, a liquidating trustee alleged that insiders and advisers pushed through the company's $161 million acquisition of Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza.
The trustee also alleged that the deal left BurgerFi insolvent. Those claims are part of ongoing litigation. They do not establish whether the Ypsilanti restaurant will open as planned.
For residents, the confirmed details are limited. BurgerFi has proposed a restaurant at 2997 Washtenaw Road with dine-in service, a drive-thru, ordering ahead and takeout.
The chain's full menu is expected if the restaurant opens. Until BurgerFi or local officials release a confirmed date and permitting details, the project remains a proposed fall 2026 addition to Ypsilanti's commercial landscape.
