Nordstrom Rack plans to open at New Towne Plaza on Ford Road on Oct. 29, 2026. The location would be the company's sixth Rack store in Michigan.

A national October schedule lists at least 19 Nordstrom Rack stores slated to open that month.

The Canton store is among the planned openings. USA Today's list also gives Oct. 29 dates for stores in Akron, Ohio, and Media, Pennsylvania. The October openings list describes a multistate expansion of the discount format, rather than a Michigan-only project.

The planned 35,000-square-foot store is at New Towne Plaza, 44740 Ford Road, in Canton Township, Wayne County.

A separate report from Merca20, updated Oct. 8, also identifies the Canton address and planned opening date. Both reports describe a scheduled opening, not a store that has already opened. They provide no visitor counts. They also omit staffing figures. Neither identifies a local government decision tied to the project.

Michigan already has five Nordstrom Rack locations and two Nordstrom stores, according to the original announcement. The Canton store would add another Rack location.

At the new store, customers are expected to be able to pick up online orders from Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com. The location will also accept returns, according to Nordstrom Rack President Gemma Lionello. That gives customers a way to handle online purchases in person.

Nordstrom Rack is Nordstrom, Inc.'s off-price retail division. Its stores typically offer discounts of up to 70% on apparel and accessories. The assortment also includes beauty products and home decor. Shoes from brands sold at Nordstrom stores are part of the mix.

The planned site is within Canton Township. The township's official municipal website provides access to local information and services. Available reporting does not identify a Township Council action or other local approval tied to the store.
