Your Voice: Farmington has the right team in place

To the editor:

I’ve been a Farmington city resident for 28 years and seen the ups and downs during that period. I feel we finally have the right team in place at the right time with Bill Galvin, Greg Cowley, and Jeff Scott. The City of Farmington has made vast strides in sustainability and is moving in the right direction.

If I look at the successes of recent projects, downtown walkability with the widening of the sidewalks, increased outdoor eating locations, the recruiting and opening of Fresh Thyme, the additional improvements to Riley Park, the growth of the farmers market, and the increased entertainment, food and beverage offerings at Founders Festival and Harvest Moon all create a great place to live, work and raise a family.

The city has many projects already in the works, the Ten Mile Court property, the Training Center, the parking lot or structure projects, Grand River and Halstead development. I would hate to stop the progress in midstream, Bill, Greg, and Jeff deserve to be able to finish the projects they have started in the continued growth of the city.

All three understand the importance of growing the tax base and the need for single family housing to keep Farmington and the Farmington Public Schools sustainable. Greg and Jeff both have businesses in the community and understand the financial budget must be balanced with the need for city service levels to keep the community strong and viable.

I support reelecting Bill Galvin, Greg Cowley, and Jeff Scott for Farmington City Council. All three have shown positive commitment and brought success to Farmington. All three understand the financial situation of the city, their continued commitment to public safety, growing the tax base while increasing property values, and revitalization of downtown Farmington.

Therefore, I urge you to vote for Bill Galvin, Greg Cowley, and Jeff Scott.

Gregory Sako
