About 2,000 Farmington and Farmington Hills DTE customers lost power Monday afternoon, as strong winds and heavy rain blew through the area.
Affected areas are east and west of Farmington Road, south of State/Alta Loma to Seven Mile in Livonia, and an area bounded by Inkster, Shiawassee, and Nine Mile. Residents on several social media sites reported hearing a loud boom before losing power; according to the DTE website, the cause of the outage is wind-damaged equipment.
UPDATE: Restoration estimates posted later in the evening had the larger area back on line by 11:30 p.m. Monday, and the smaller, by 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The storm affected more than 13,000 DTE customers, the company reported.
