Heavy storms that started rolling through Farmington and Farmington Hills around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday knocked out power for more than 2,000 DTE customers.
Damage from downed trees caused the largest outage in an area east of Halsted Road, between I-696 and Grand River, affecting 2,100 homes and businesses. More than 360 DTE customers lost power due to wind damage in an area north and south of 12 Mile, between Middlebelt and Inkster.
DTE expects power back on in the largest outage area Wednesday night; as of 8 p.m., no restoration estimate was available for the smaller outage.
