Learn what foster parenting is all about at Warm Hearts Open House, an Oakland Family Services event held from 5–7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, at the agency’s Pontiac office, 114 Orchard Lake Road.
Staff and current foster parents will answer questions about becoming a foster parent, adoptive parent, or volunteer with the agency.
“There are thousands of foster children in Michigan in need of loving temporary homes, where they can feel safe, comfortable, and secure,” said Luna Phetmisy, director of Family Preservation at Oakland Family Services. “Across the United States, more than 1,000 children enter the foster care system every day. These are children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.”
Oakland Family Services is looking for people who are willing to open up their hearts and homes to welcome children in crisis and make a difference in their lives. The agency also is seeking volunteers to help with transporting children from the foster home to the agency for parenting visits and providing childcare for training and other events.
Anyone interested in the event should RSVP to Teresa Spong, 248-858-7766, ext. 1236 or email@example.com. Light refreshments will be served.
