Walk through Farmington area, ceremony call attention to deportations

A May 15 “Pilgrimage to Keep Families Together” march from Detroit to Lansing will include a leg through Farmington and Farmington Hills and an immigrant rights event at ISKCON Farmington Hills Temple on Grand River.

Walkers will depart from Grand River and Evergreen, then move up Grand River to a rest stop at Bellacino’s of Farmington, Grand River and Orchard Lake Roads. Anyone is welcome to join the walk at that location and continue through Farmington.

The 6 p.m. storytelling and advocacy event will include State Rep. Christine Greig (D-Farmington Hills) and the children of Cile Precetaj, 46, an Albanian mother of three who faces deportation under new and tougher immigration rules.
