Visions Unlimited hosts job fair for students with disabilities

Visions Unlimited, an education program for young adults with physical and developmental disabilities, will host its first Job Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 15 for its post-secondary young adult students from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m..

Employers holding interviews with 15-30 students will include Kroger, City of Farmington Hills Costick Center, Mercedes Cafe, Thompson & Stewart Law Group, Farmington Community Library, Farmington Civic Theater, Planet Fitness, St. Mary’s Hospital, Google, University of Detroit Mercy, Bunchy’s Pizza, and DM Burr. Depending on ability, students will spend up to 15 minutes with each employer.

Students have been preparing for the Job Fair during their Life Skills Classes by creating resumes, watching videos of successful interviews, and engaging in mock interviews.

The goal of the fair is to improve student outcomes. Each student has goals for improving life and work skills. The hope is that all students obtain some type of long-term employment before leaving the program.
