If you use Shiawassee Street to avoid Grand River traffic in Farmington, it’s time to find a new way around.
Work on underground utilities will close the street from Farmington Road to Grand River for about two weeks. Construction is expected to begin on Monday, Aug. 14, weather-permitting. The street will remain open to local traffic.
Last week, Farmington Hills officials notified residents that gas main repairs will result in lane closures and traffic delays on 13 Mile Road between Haggerty and Inkster Roads, and delay the opening of a stretch between Halsted and Drake. The intersection of 13 Mile and Halsted opened to traffic Aug. 11.
In addition, construction is expected to begin Aug. 12 on Nine Mile Road between Halsted and Elena Drive in Farmington Hills. Concrete repairs will close the easterly leg of the 9 Mile and Halsted intersection until sometime in September. And the Road Commission for Oakland County is expected to begin concrete repairs on 12 Mile Road between Haggerty and Farmington Road on Aug. 14.
