Authorities are concerned that the uniforms may be used by impostors. Anyone who wants to verify the identity of a Farmington Hills or Novi police officer or firefighter should ask for a departmental identification card, request that a supervisor confirm their location, or call 911 to verify that the contact is official.

Police found a pile of uniforms dumped near Outer Drive and Lindsay Street in Detroit, and all of the Farmington Hills Police Department uniforms were located.

The vehicles taken are a white 2012 GMC box van with Michigan plate CE82871 and a 2015 white Chevy box van with Michigan plate DB46109. Neither has any distinguishing logos or markings.
