Treat yourself to shortcake at Farmington Farmers Market

Celebrate America and Strawberry Shortcake Day at the June 30 Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market, open 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion and Riley Park in downtown Farmington.

Postponed from last week, the strawberry shortcake market fundraiser will feature Kapnick Orchards berries and scratch-made shortcake, topped with whipped cream. Prices will be $3 for one serving and $5 for two. Look for this delicious treat starting at 9:30 a.m. on the south side of the market.

The market will open with a color guard and singing of “America, the Beautiful.” Activities throughout the day will include an upcycled sailboat craft for kids with the Kenbrook Elementary and Warner Middle School robotics teams, hot dogs and coneys served up by Groves-Walker American Legion Post members, the Oakland County Mobile Parks “Go Fish” game, and music by Bob Monteleone.

Downtown shoppers can pick up a special market bag this season by spending $20 at any downtown store or restaurant on farmers market Saturdays. Just show your receipt at the market information tent. Supplies are limited.
