Santa Claus helped Farmington Hills kick off the holiday season Tuesday, arriving by fire truck during the city’s Holiday Lights celebration.
(You can hear the siren start at around the 10:50 mark.)
After holiday songs performed by Farmington High’s Vocal Harmonics, and a sing-along chorus of “Here Comes Santa Claus,” Mayor Vicki Barnett welcomed the Jolly Old Elf with a special gift.

“Now, normally, we don’t see these very often because we’ve all gone to swipe cards to get in and out of buildings,” she said, “but we had this specially made for you, and it’s the key to our city and to our hearts.”

Santa and many of the children in attendance helped turn the switch that lit up trees and a unity candle on the city campus at 11 Mile and Orchard Lake Roads. Then Santa moved on to Fire Department Headquarters, where he sat for photos and listened to Christmas wishes.
