Exercise, prizes, health screenings, and more are part of the June 16 Fit as a Fiddle Health Awareness Fair at the Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market in downtown Farmington.
Here’s the market line-up:
Fit Walk with Dr. Joseph Williams, D.O.: If you’re one of the first 10 walkers to sign up, you will be handed $5 in market bucks to use at the Goetz Farm or Fusilier Farm tables. Sign up at the Beaumont tent on the east side of the market; the walk starts at 9.
2nd Annual 5k Rooster Run: No registration is required, just meet up with Farmington City Council member Sara Bowman at the compass rose. Participation enters you in a drawing for a farm share (six weeks of farm fresh produce fresh picked for market) or a flower bouquet or garden plant from Farmington’s historic Springbrook Gardens.
Chef Demo: Chef Amber Poupore from The Cacao Tree, Royal Oak brings her talents to the market. The demo, with free samples, starts at 11 a.m.
Market Music: Singer/songwriter and Farmington resident Gary Niemenski is featured at 10 a.m. And look for violinist Anthony Marchese performing as part of the Fit as a Fiddle event.
Free health screenings: Beaumont-Farmington Hills will do blood pressure checks and other health screenings at their tent on the east side of the market.
The market is open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion and Riley Park in downtown Farmington. Learn more at farmingtonfarmersmarket.com.
