Zumper.com, which lists residential rentals across the country, has ranked Farmington Hills as metro Detroit’s 5th most expensive city in which to rent an apartment.
According to the company’s website, the city ranks behind Troy, Novi, Dearborn, and Livonia, and ahead of Southfield, Warren, Taylor, Pontiac, and Detroit, with a median rent of $930 for a one-bedroom apartment. Farmington Hills also has the second fastest growth rate, with rents rising 14.8 percent year-over-year.
The median price for a two-bedroom apartment in the Hills fell by 5.3 percent year-over-year, to $1,260.
Zumper aggregates data from “over one million active listings to calculate median asking rents for the top 100 cities by population and nearly 300 additional cities within major metro areas.” Data is sourced from its proprietary listings, which are individually verified, and MLS (Multiple Listing Service).
