Farmington Public Safety’s newest ladder truck recently rolled into town after getting a fresh coat of paint and new striping.
According to a press release, residents can expect to see the 1999 Spartan 75′ LTI in service next month. Purchased from the Decorah, Iowa Fire Department, the ladder truck was delivered to Farmington in January, then sent out for the visual “refresh”. Firefighters are learning this month how to operate the new rig.
“We searched the country for a ladder truck that would meet or exceed the needs of the community at a competitive price and we found it in Decorah, Iowa,” Public Safety Director Frank Demers said. “The capabilities of this ladder far exceed any previous ladder truck owned by the City of Farmington. We are grateful for the support of the Farmington City Council and City Administration in helping to make this project a reality”.
The previous ladder truck, a 1984 Pierce, will be sold via a public auction website in the coming weeks.
