Newly crowned Miss Oakland County Vivian Zhong, 21, of Northville, and Miss Oakland County Outstanding Teen Kylie D’Andrea,13, of Macomb Township, introduced themselves to Farmington city officials Monday.

Both were crowned July 14 during pageants held at Oakland University’s Dodge Auditorium. The new Miss Oakland County won a $1,150 education scholarship as well as several other prizes and scholarships awards. She will represent Oakland County at the 2019 Miss Michigan pageant in Muskegon next June.
A University of Michigan senior. Zhong is pursuing a B.S. degree in biopsychology, cognition and neuroscience, and told officials she hopes to become a pediatric oncologist. She will advocate pairing seniors and young people in mentoring relationships through her personal platform, “Integrating Tradition – Bridging the Generational Gap
D’Andrea competed with the platform, “Ignited in Faith,” through which she brings supplies and comfort to people who are homeless. She will represent Oakland County at Michigan’s Outstanding Teen competition next June in Muskegon.
This is the first year that the Miss Oakland County pageant was held at Oakland University.
“We believe it is entirely fitting that our education scholarship program for young women throughout Oakland County partner with Oakland University, one of the premier academic institutions in the Midwest,” program executive director Francesca Tuzzolino said in a press release. “We look forward to continuing and expanding that partnership in the future.”
