Mercy High robotics team hosts STEM workshop for girls

The Mercy High robotics team will host a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) workshop for prospective 7th and 8th grade girls on Saturday, December 8, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Farmington Hills school.

RoboGirls is fun-filled day that will allow girls to learn principles of robotics and compete for prizes. Participants will build a functioning robot, program it to run by itself, test and adjust the design to make it fast and accurate.

No special robotics knowledge is required; everything the students need to know will be taught and coached. Mentors will be on hand to support the competitors.

The cost of $25 Includes a Robogirl t-shirt, lunch, and all of the materials the student will need to compete. Prizes will be awarded for the top teams. Students will work in pairs of two and may want to attend with a friend.
