Fire Chief Jon Unruh said 25 firefighters responded to the call at around 2:45 p.m. Nine Mile Road was closed for about 40 minutes while they tapped into a fire hydrant and hoses were stretched across the road.

The fire apparently started in the fryer area and extended to the roof; investigators found the cause was accidental.

“We quickly extinguished the fire after making sure everyone was out of the building,” Unruh said. “The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.”

Only four employees were inside when the fire broke out, he added, and no one was injured. While Empire Dynasty is located in a strip center, the fire did not spread to any adjacent businesses.

”It was a great effort by my staff,” Unruh said.

The restaurant will remain temporarily closed while repairs are made.
