Beaumont’s Healthy Communities coalitions work to change the culture of health in communities throughout Metro Detroit – and now the program is coming to Farmington and Farmington Hills.
The members of each Healthy Community coalition work together to promote healthy lifestyles, improve physical and mental health and prevent chronic disease. Each partnership includes diverse representatives to improve community health for all.
“The sister communities of Farmington and Farmington Hills have their own combined culture, resources, dynamics, and social and economic landscapes,” Beaumont Healthy Communities Project Manager Kari Woloszyk said in a press release. “We hope to have a huge turnout at our kickoff event as we form our new Healthy Farmington/Farmington Hills coalition.”
The kickoff event for Healthy Farmington/Farmington Hills will take place from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, at the Costick Activities Center, 28600 W. 11 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills.
Four key principles drive strategies for improvements within each Healthy Community:
- address community health needs through diverse and meaningful partnerships
- implement large scale interventions in multiple settings
- emphasis health equity across populations and initiatives
- create sustainable change and impact
