Jaycees ‘Rally for Farmington’ offers acts of kindness

The Farmington Area Jaycees will host an August 19 “Rally for Farmington” road rally focused on acts of kindness.

Launched at 2 p.m. in Riley Park, this “Pay it Forward” event will involve challenges like buying someone a coffee, carrying someone’s groceries to the car, and other small and random acts of kindness. The recipient will be given a Pay it Forward card, encouraging them to show an act of kindness to someone else.

Participants will be given a list of items to accomplish, like writing a thank you letter to a public safety officer or picking up trash in a park. Rally winners will compete for prizes.

This free event is open to community organizations and businesses, and teams are encouraged to register at rallyforfarmington.eventbrite.com. Individuals may register and will be assigned to a team.

Participants are encouraged to bring a donation for the Oakland County Foster Closet. A list of suggested items is posted on the sign-up page.
