The chiller has been installed, and the sides are up on the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion, but how long will it take Public Works staffers to install the Riley Park Ice Rink once the weather cools down?
During a Monday City Council study session, Public Works Superintendent Chuck Eudy said installation will commence after Holly Days, on December 7 – and it’ll be a full-court press.
“We’re going to put all 11 members of our staff on the ice rink (installation),” he said. “We’ll be working on it for a week, 10 or 11 hours hours a day.”
Eudy said progress will depend on the weather and what else is going on in the city. Having to respond to a water main break, for example, would delay completion.
At least one event is already planned for the ice rink season: a Harry Potter-themed skate on Saturday, December 28. For more information, follow the Riley Park Ice Rink on Facebook.
