Here’s the line-up for Farmington Hills City-Wide Open House

The City of Farmington Hills annual Open House, held from 12-4 p.m. on September 22, will offer a fun and exciting line-up of events that give residents a closer look at city departments.

Along with a free hot dog lunch, games, and prizes, here’s what you’ll find on the City Hall campus, 31555 W. 11 MIle Rd.:

Fire Department

  • Climb on fire trucks
  • Practice escape plans in the Smoke House
  • Try on a firefighter’s uniform
  • Run through an obstacle course
  • Learn about the National Fire Prevention Week theme: “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape.”
  • Learn the basics of CPR, defibrillator use, and Stop the Bleed tourniquet training
  • See kitchen fire and Christmas tree fire demonstrations, and a Jaws of Life extrication

Police Department

  • Sit in a police car
  • Meet Officer Dozer the K-9 Police Dog
  • Visit the Crime Scene Lab and meet with Evidence Technicians
  • See a Drone demonstration
  • Explore Police Headquarters – see the jail, tour the Dispatch Center, try out the MILO (Multiple Interactive Learning Objectives) training system, and use the driving simulator

Division of Public Works

  • Climb on an excavator, road grader or dump truck
  • Decorate a snow plow with chalk.
  • Learn about recycling, and enter to win a street sign with your name on it.

Special Services

  • Bounce in a Moonwalk
  • Do a craft project
  • Play games
  • Get your face painted.

City Clerk’s Office

  • Register to vote and get information about the upcoming November 5, 2019 Election
