Hello Summer Picnic and more in June for Farmington area seniors

The City of Farmington Hills offers dozens of programs for area adults age 50 and better at the Center for Active Adults, located in the Costick Center, 28600 W. 11 Mile Rd. The Center is open Monday – Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Lunch is served daily, $2.75 for ages 60 and over, $5 for those under 60.

Shredding for Safety

Tuesday, June 4, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Protect your identity, de-clutter, and recycle! Farmington and Farmington Hills residents 50 & better can bring up to four paper grocery bags of sensitive documents to be shredded. No junk mail or trash. Enter Gate 3, remain in your car, and exit Gate 4. No fee.

Diabetes Prevention Program

Thursdays, June 6 – Oct. 24, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Research-based program for those wanting to prevent Type 2 diabetes focusing on lifestyle changes related to healthy eating, physical activity, problem solving, and coping skills. Hello Summer Picnic

Dine and Discover – Al Kaline’s Last Bat Boy

Tuesday, June 18, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Enjoy a delicious lunch while you join Dennis Clotworthy as he tells of his experiences working for the Detroit Tigers. Hear stories about his time as a bat boy during his teen years and learn all about Al Kaline’s final season. Friday’s Film

Friday, June 21, 12 – 3 p.m. After a delicious lunch, enjoy the movie “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” with candy, popcorn, and a drink. Fee is $5 in advance, $7 at the door.

Several support groups are also available including Caregivers, Grief and Loss, and First Step Stroke. The Center also offers many clubs that meet regularly including Computer Forum, CFAA (Cycling for Active Adults), Heritage Hikers, and the Red Hat Society.
