The driver of a vehicle that left I-275 in Farmington Hills Saturday evening and ended up on an apartment complex tennis court died at the scene, Michigan State Police (MSP) say.
The accident happened at around 5 p.m., just south of the I-96/I-696/M-5 interchange. According to MSP social media posts, the Nissan veered into a ditch and drove over a hill, going airborne before coming to a stop on the tennis court. The vehicle then caught fire with the driver trapped inside.
The victim has not been identified, and police continue to investigate the accident. No other vehicles were involved, and according to MSP, the driver was not speeding.
