Farmington Public Schools has a contract with Dr. Robert Herrera, hired to replace retiring Superintendent Dr. George Heitsch.
Trustees are expected to approve the document during their Tuesday study session.
Residents will have an opportunity to meet Herrera during an event held from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, at the Maxfield Education Center, 32789 W. Ten Mile Rd., Farmington. A board workshop set for that date will be rescheduled.
The event is open to the public, no registration is required, and light refreshments will be served.
Trustees voted last week to offer Herrera a contract. Formerly superintendent of South Haven Public Schools, he most recently served as appointed CEO for the financially troubled Benton Harbor Community Schools district.
The district will also hold a Retirement Reception for Heitsch on Tuesday, June 11, 4-6 p.m., at Longacre House, 24705 Farmington Rd. in Farmington Hills. A 40-year, public education veteran, he began working for the district in July of 2014.
To attend the retirement event, contact Diane Bauman at email@example.com or 248-489-3349. Those who wish to contribute may help fund a scholarship that will be established in Heitsch’s name.
