Farmington Schools trustees to address superintendent search

Farmington Public Schools trustees have a full agenda for their Tuesday, January 15, study session, including a discussion about the search for a new superintendent.

Dr. George Heitsch has announced his retirement effective July 1, and a board subcommittee met on December 27 to develop search process recommendations. The agenda item includes a recommendation to appoint an outside firm to handle the search.

The 6 p.m. meeting will start with the oath of office administered to Pam Green and Zach Rich, who won board terms in November, and Richard Mukamal, who was appointed last week to fill an unexpired term.  Recognitions include the Board of Education and Nina Merget, a Harrison High School teacher honored for her work in marketing education.

Officials will also review a School of Choice Options Report and hold a public hearing, receive a Minority Student Achievement Network report, and consider items related to construction projects, along with revisions to the budget.

The Curriculum subcommittee will host a 5 p.m. meeting to discuss disproportionality and standards based grading.

Both meetings will be broadcast live on TV-10, with video available after the meeting at tv10.viebit.com. Agendas and supporting materials are posted at farmington.k12.mi.us/board-of-education.
