Farmington Schools trustees look at buying Steppingstone property

Farmington Public Schools trustees will hold a special meeting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, to talk about buying the Steppingstone School property in Farmington Hills for use as a bus garage.

The private school, located at 30250 Grand River, serves gifted students in grades K-8. Founded in 1981, Steppingstone moved in 2009 to the former auto dealership, which had been renovated using “green” technology.

Farmington trustees discussed the potential purchase during a May 23 special meeting. They’re looking to relocate administration and transportation facilities on Shiawassee and sell that property.

The July 11 meeting will be held in the board room at the Schulman Administrative Center, 32500 Shiawassee, in Farmington. It begins with a closed session to discuss collective bargaining strategy and property lease/purchase, then opens up to consider a resolution to purchase the Steppingstone property. Time for public comment is scheduled at the end of the meeting.
