Farmington Schools canned food drive starts November 1

Farmington Public Schools’ annual Canned Food Drive for the Farmington Area Goodfellows begins this year on November 1.

Collection bins for non-perishable canned and boxed foods will be available at all school and support buildings through November 27. Food items can also be dropped off at both Farmington and Farmington Hills City Halls, the Farmington Community Library downtown Farmington branch, and the Costick Center, 28600 W. 11 Mile Rd in Farmington Hills.

The holiday drive supplies the majority of non-perishable food that the Goodfellows uses fill holiday food baskets that will be delivered to needy families on Saturday, December 21.

In 2019, the Goodfellows Holiday Assistance Program served more than 170 families, 432 children, 81 seniors, and 30 developmentally disabled adults in Farmington and Farmington Hills. With monetary donations, the organization purchased gift certificates so that families could purchase perishable foods and clothing.
