Farmington Public Schools trustees last week approved a one-year contract extension for Superintendent Dr. George Heitsch.
Hired in 2014, Heitsch initially signed on for three years. His contract was extended in 2017 for a year, with an option for a second year. He has not made a commitment to the district beyond the extension.
The contract sets a $180,000 salary. Officials have also approved merit pay for 2017-2018 based on a “highly effective” rating by the Superintendent’s Evaluation Committee. The contract extension expires June 30, 2019.
