Farmington Hills resident Laura Wilkinson Hedgecock was honored last week by First Presbyterian Church of Farmington for her service to church and community.
Hedgecock received the church’s annual award of a Lifetime Membership in Presbyterian Women. Over the past 25 years, she has served twice as an elder, providing leadership and sitting on a number of committees. Among many other activities, she is the church’s webmaster and has served as the president/chairperson of the Farmington Presbyterian Preschool.
Sharing her grant-writing skill, Hedgecock helped church to secure a grant for former pastor Sue Melrose’s sabbatical to India, along with two grants for the local Youth United program.
A respected genealogist and author, Hedgecock’s book, Memories of Me: A Complete Guide to Telling and Sharing the Stories of Your Life helps budding genealogists. Recently she was selected as Ambassador for the RootsTech convention to be held October 24-26 in London, England. She blogs at https://treasurechestofmemories.com.
