Farmington Hills police, firefighters battle at blood drive

Farmington Hills Police and Fire Departments will compete Sept. 6 in a friendly battle that will help boost critically low local blood supplies.

The American Red Cross will sponsor the annual “Battle of the Badges” Blood Drive from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Costick Center, 28600 W. 11 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills.

Donors can cast a “vote” to help raise the tally of either department. All blood types are needed, but Type O is in high demand since it can be transfused to patients in other blood groups and used in emergency cases when a patient’s blood type isn’t known.
