Farmington Hills outdoor concert season opens Thursday

The Farmington Community Band (FCB) will on June 14 kick off the Stars in the Park, a free spring/summer concert series held in Heritage Park, 24915 Farmington Rd. in Farmington Hills.

The 80-member band draws musicians from across metro Detroit to play a mix of classical and contemporary music. The group has been playing in this community for over 40 years and continues to host several concerts each year.

Music Director and Conductor Damien Crutcher earned a music education degree at Michigan State University and is the CEO of Crescendo Detroit and Executive Director of Progression.

Those who attend the 7 p.m. concert are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic dinner. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the Costick Center at 28600 W. 11 Mile Rd. Call the concert hotline at 248-473-1848 after 4 p.m. for location confirmation.

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, the exclusive sponsor of the summer concerts, will offer two random raffle drawings for concert goers to win a Mercedes-Benz driving experience.

Attendees (21 years or older with a valid U.S. driver’s license) may enter by visiting the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services vehicle display. One entry per person may be submitted at each concert. Winners will be awarded the use of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle for one week. 

The first winner will be announced at the July 12 concert and the second winner will be announced at the final concert on August 16. Winners need not be present to win.
