Farmington HIlls officials to honor John Anhut

After gathering September 23 at the groundbreaking ceremony for the city’s new community center, Farmington Hills officials will honor long-time Economic Development Commission (EDC) chair John Anhut.

The 6 p.m. groundbreaking will be held on the east side of the former Harrison High School at 29995 W. 12 Mile Rd.

At 7:30 p.m., council members will reconvene in the council chamber at City Hall, 31555 W. 11 Mile Rd., to take up their regular agenda. A proclamation recognizes Anhut’s service on the EDC since its inception in 1979, and as chair since 1996.

In addition to encouraging business growth within the city, Anhut has served as a board member of the Farmington Hills/Farmington Community Foundation, and of the Botsford Hospital Board of Directors. He owned and operated the Botsford Inn, a popular local restaurant, for 40 years. It closed in 2000, and the original, historic building is now part of the Beaumont-Farmington Hills hospital property.

The council will also consider an appointment to the Farmington Community Library Board of Trustees. To see the full agenda, visit
