Farmington Hills moves up on safest cities list

Downward trends in violent and property crime have landed Farmington Hills on the list of the 101 safest cities in the U.S.

The city ranked third among Michigan cities and 42nd among all U.S. cities. Last year, the city ranked in 44th place.

Farmington Hills is among five Michigan cities in the list’s top 50, with Rochester Hills (#6), West Bloomfield Township (#12), Royal Oak (#46), and Sterling Heights (#47).

Published by, the 101 Safest Cities list is based on an analysis of FBI data provided by 13,366 law enforcement agencies. Safehome chose to compare violent and property crimes based on a Chapman University study of the crimes Americans fear most.
