Farmington Hills hires top Oakland Police Academy grads

Two of Oakland Police Academy’s top 2017 graduates are now patrolling the streets of Farmington Hills.

Officer Zackary Voiles and Officer Cameron Hamaker were sworn in December 18 during a ceremony attended by family and friends.

Voiles, hired by the department in December 2016 as a Police Service Aide, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Madonna University while maintaining a 3.86 GPA. He completed the Oakland Police Academy in December 2017 and finished among the top academic recruits in his class.

Hamaker previously served as a Reserve Police Officer with the Walled Lake Police Department. He has an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Schoolcraft College and completed the Oakland Police Academy in December 2017, ranked among the top three class members in the achievement areas of physical fitness, firearms, and academics.

Both officers are currently assigned to the Patrol Division of the Operations Bureau as part of the Field Training program.
