Farmington Hills council to tour community center site

Farmington Hills city officials on Monday will tour the former Harrison High School, soon to become a community and arts center.

The 6 p.m. tour precedes the council’s regular meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in the council chamber at City Hall, 31555 W. 11 Mile Rd. That agenda includes:

Jon Aldred for Farmington Hills City Council
  • A public hearing and request to approve a cluster site and open space plan to build 51 homes on the east side of Orchard Lake Road, between 10 Mile and 11 Mile Roads. Read the Planning Commission’s extensive discussion on the city’s website.
  • Finalizing the sale of a tax-forfeited property to Buchanan Group LLC. The vacant parcel on Albion near Grand River sits right behind the company’s Generations Funeral & Cremation Services building.
  • An appeal to the partial denial of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.
  • Approval of an appointment to the Economic Development Corporation, which encourages the establishment of businesses in the city.
