The women began rehearsing together two years ago under the direction of LeAnn Hazlett of Swanton, Ohio and Sylvia Karpinsky of Sterling Heights. Four months later, Motor City Blend won its regional competition with the highest score in the 50-plus year history of the region.

That qualified the singers to compete against 33 other regional winners in October in St. Louis, MIssouri. Motor City Blend won the 11th place slot and was the mic tester for the top ten choruses, most with many more years together.
