Farmington High senior Donovan King on Saturday took home his school’s first individual wrestling title in 44 years.
King won the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division 2 heavyweight title, wrestling at 285 lbs. and with a torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament). Coach Al Beyer said in the injury had been surgically repaired a year before King tore it again last fall, during the Falcons’ fifth football game of the 2018 season.
“King was dominant in his march to the championship,” Beyer said. “He pinned three of his four opponents, including getting a pin in the championship match.”
King finished the season with a 52-2 record, including 42 pins.
