The Farmington/Farmington Hills Breakfast Optimist Club on November 13 honored 20 local veterans during a special breakfast held at John Cowley & Sons in downtown Farmington.

The annual breakfast is one of more than 35 events hosted by the civic group, which will meet next on Wednesday, November 20, 7:30 a.m., at John Cowley and Sons Pub. Each meeting features a speaker and breakfast.
Club activities include Jr. Optimist Clubs in local schools, Essay and Oratorical Contests for local students, and support of PTAs and the Farmington/Farmington Hills Education Foundation; a Kids Fishing Day; community service projects; and special events to honor local school administrators, police and firefighters.
This year’s leadership includes President Cathy Neal, Vice President Laura Stewart, Secretary Phyllis Pheeney, Treasurer Richard Burrous, and board members Roxanne Fitzpatrick, Jill O’Hara, Anna Durham, Tom Neal, and past president Ken Wasmer.
