The Farmington Community Band (FCB) will honor several high school students and present scholarship awards during its “Colors of Spring” concert, held Sunday, April 15, at Harrison High School in Farmington Hills.
The students participated in the first annual FCB Honor Band program, designed to enhance the musical experience for talented wind and percussion students in Farmington Public Schools. Honor Band students will perform during the 3 p.m. concert.
The program will include an array of concert band classics performed by the 95-piece FCB Concert Band, under the direction of Maestro Damien Crutcher. Featured guest conductor is Dr. Mary K. Schneider, Director of Bands at Eastern Michigan University. Schneider will lead the band as it performs “Let Freedom Ring” by Ryan Nowlin and a Sousa march, “Bullets and Bayonets.”
The band will also participate in the Motor City Festival of Bands at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn on Sunday, April 22 beginning at 3 p.m. For more information visit fcbmusic.org.
