Farmington area Optimists host Kids Fishing Day

Local kids ages 5 to 17 have an opportunity to learn more about catch-and-release fishing during Gone Fishin’ Kids’ Fishing Day, held Saturday, July 27 at the Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve, 27101 – 27215 W. 10 Mile Rd. in Southfield.

Hosted by the Farmington Area Optimist Club, the event has three, two-hour sessions – 9-11 a.m., 10 a.m.-12 p.m., and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – during which kids will practice proper techniques and spend quality time outdoors.

Each child will receive their own rod and reel, tackle box, and snacks. The fee is $20, and parental supervision is required. Participants should bring a water bottle, hat, and sunglasses, and dress for the weather.
