A group of local first responders recently gave 25 Farmington area children a special holiday shopping experience at Target in Farmington Hills.
The “Heroes and Helpers” shopping event was hosted on December 8 by the agencies that comprise the Farmington Hills Police Benevolent Association (FHPBA): Farmington Hills Police Department, Farmington Hills Fire Department, Farmington Department of Public Safety, and Franklin-Bingham Farms Police Department.
A $1,000 grant from Target, and a $3,000 donation from the FHPBA, allowed each child to enjoy a one-on-one, hour-long, $160 shopping spree with a First Responder. Each child also received a gift bag from Farmington Youth Assistance and the Farmington Hills Police and Fire Departments.
Farmington Youth Assistance coordinated the “Heroes and Helpers” event, which is sponsored annually by Target and held at local stores throughout the United States.
