The only street in Farmington’s proposed Liberty Hill housing development on 10 Mile Road will probably not be called “Liberty Street.”
A resident at Monday’s Planning Commission public hearing asked about the street naming, because Farmington already has a Liberty Street. In fact, City Hall is located at 23600 Liberty Street.
Economic and Community Development Director Kevin Christiansen said developers put together names for private streets.
“If it’s public, in many instances there’s an element of connectivity…it may be named the same as a connecting road,” he said. “With this road, we’ll take a look at what the developer proposes. If it’s something that makes sense for the city, the city would move forward with that.”
City officials expect the Liberty Hill street to be a public street, but the final determination will be part of the Planned Unit Development agreement. Planning commissioners recommended the proposal, which now moves on for city council review.
