Beloved Community Initiative community conversation

In 1964 Malcolm X delivered a powerful and challenging speech to African Americans regarding their right to vote and the forces that would try to prevent them from exercising that right. He exhorted them to be ready to defend that most precious right of a US citizen. This speech, called the “Ballot or Bullet Speech” has been called one of the most important speeches of the 20th century.

Rev. Dr. Pat Coleman-Burns will lead a discussion and comparison of Malcolm X’s words – how do they resonate with the events leading up to the 2020 presidential election and the ongoing efforts to suppress votes of Blacks and other people of color today?
