American Red Cross Blood Drive
It’s often difficult to collect blood donations at this social time of year due to graduations, parties, and weddings. With a theme of “Communities Coming Together,” the Red Cross is urging community members to help ensure that safe and abundant blood resources are available during the summer. Collected blood donations are used for emergency and trauma care, surgeries, and treatment of serious diseases.
To make an appointment to donate on June 5, call 248-473-1800 or register at redcrossblood.org. Enter the sponsor code “costickcenter” and follow the instructions to set up an appointment time for the blood drive.
Giving blood takes approximately one hour. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be 17 years of age or older. If a parent is present to fill out a permission form on the day of the blood drive, 16-year-olds will be allowed to donate blood. For more information, call 1-800-448-3543 or visit redcrossblood.org.
