East Middle School’s Jr. Optimist Club partnered with The Ideal Bite, a Farmington Hills restaurant and catering service, to deliver healthful snacks on January 22 to Farmington Hills firefighters.
Ideal Bite owners Amy Jean Thompson and Matthew Lange invited the club to the restaurant to make protein bites.
“It is important to us to teach children how to cook nutritious and delicious food. Giving back to those that serve our community daily is a demonstration of true optimism,” Thompson said.
Students worked together to mix and bake the bars, then took them home to cool overnight. Each cut and wrapped bar included a special note for its recipient.
The restaurant has also completed cooking projects with the Beechview Junior Optimists.
