Blackthorn comes to Farmington Hills March 8, 9

The Irish band Blackthorn will return to the Farmington Players Barn Theatre in Farmington Hills March 8 and 9, with a lively concert of Celtic music.

This concert marks Blackthorn’s 20th year of concerts presented by the City of Farmington Hills Cultural Arts Division, with their first appearance in March of 2000. The Detroit-based Celtic folk quintet has been singing and playing high-quality Irish music together for more than 30 years.

Blackthorn has been voted Best Folk Artist by the readers of Detroit Metro Times and earned a Shammy Award as Michigan’s favorite Irish band from the “All Things Irish and Celtic in Michigan” website. The key to their authentic style lies in the band’s instruments: Richard McMullen plays guitar, mandolin, mandola, and bodhran; Gary McMullen plays five-string banjo and guitar; David Mosher plays fiddle, mandolin, and banjo; Dennis Green plays bass; and Fred Klein plays keyboards, accordion, flute, and pennywhistle.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert are available at the Costick Center at 28600 W. 11 Mile Road in Farmington Hills, at, or by calling 248-473-1848.
