Big cat spotted, Farmington Hills couple offers reward

A Farmington Hills couple who lost their home in a Sunday morning fire have been contacted by someone who may have seen one of their world-record cats.

In a Facebook post, Will Powers offered a $25,000 Bitcoin (digital currency) reward to anyone who safely captures any of three cats. Someone contacted him on Tuesday about having seen a “beast” of a cat Monday evening, in the area of 11 Mile and Farmington Road.

Will and his wife, Lauren, own three cats, two of which will be listed in the 2018 Guinness Book of World Records. Cygnus qualified for the 2018 Guinness Book of World Records for his tail length, 17.58 inches, and Arcturus, at 19.05 inches, is the world’s tallest domestic cat.

Powers said the cat seen may have been Arcturus, and anyone with information should contact him via Facebook:

“Arcturus is likely dehydrated and terrified. Do not chase him if he is spotted. Contact me via this post asap. He looks scary but is a sweetheart. Don’t fear him. A formal search with animal control will be happening Wednesday morning with daylight.”
